At Little Oaks Day Nursery, our team is dedicated to providing the best possible care for your child. Our staff is highly trained and experienced in working with children of all ages. We believe that every child is unique and deserves individual attention and care, and we strive to create a nurturing and supportive environment where they can grow and thrive.

We are a Hygge Accredited Nursery.
What is Hygge? Hygge is the Danish way of living well, that focuses on being in the moment and embracing the feelings of warmth, simplicity, and togetherness. We do this by creating a calm environment, leading with love and embracing nature.
We Enjoy daily yoga
As part of our Hygge ethos we provide a daily yoga session in which the children are encouraged to take part in.
This helps children to self regulate, make big movements and enjoy a relaxation break through the session.
Yoga is a open choice and if children do not join in the yoga the session provides a calm and relaxing atmosphere to play within.
We make sure we have lots of sensory opportunities
Regardless of SEND, many children find paying attention a key challenge. A number of proactive strategies can help, such as allowing the use of sensory-rich resources to provide feedback; providing quiet spaces to sit in calmly and take time out; minimising other distractions; and using attractive resources to encourage less-preferred activities (Christine Mcintyre, 2005).
Consumable charge

Funding is given for children to access standard preschool provision only. As a nursery, we must use it in order to adequately deliver the EYFS curriculum. This includes things like small world figures, Role play, Dolls, Cars & Trucks, Trains & Track, Puzzles, Books, Loose parts, Construction bricks, Craft supplies, Paper & Card, Glue, Paint, Pencils & Crayons, Scissors, Aprons, Sand & Water and enough staff to meet minimum government ratios.
When families are accessing government funded hours, we make a charge called Consumables to cover everything that the funding doesn't provide for. This includes access to our online parent app (nursery in a box), all of the extra curricular experiences we offer within our normal service throughout the year as well as Food (three meals per day and two snacks) Drinks, Nappies and wipes, Staffing over and above the minimum guidelines, Walks & community visits, Mama Spring, Cooking/Baking sessions, Den building, Outdoor picnics & treats, growing Butterflies from caterpillars, growing frogs from frogspawn, large scale outdoor activities such as Painting, Potion making, Pumpkin carving, Obstacle courses, Religious/cultural/Seasonal activities, Christmas parties, Seasonal and Leaving parties, Sensory trays, Garden equipment, Paddling pool play, small group phonics & Yoga sessions, Take-home crafts, Food play plus much more to allow all children to experience a wide range of enhanced education.
The Consumables charge allows us to purchase additional resources & equipment that we can then provide to enable additional experiences. Examples of these are: turtle buses, hi viz jackets, spare Puddle suits, spare clothes, spare wellies & coats, two top of the range sensory rooms, body roller, multiple sensory toys, modelling clay, Baking & cooking provisions, Paint pens, two touch screen educational tables, Bubble lamps, Galaxy projectors, external training providers to contribute to the CPD of our highly qualified staff.
The consumables fee excludes any additional hours - stretched funding is only deliverable between 8am and 4pm (unless otherwise discussed with management) while your child's space can be accessed from 8am to 6pm. This fee is optional, however if you opt out of paying the charge, you will need to provide everything above and beyond our basic resources for your own child daily. You will also be charged for any extra curricular activities which take place whilst your child attends their session, including but not limited to; parties, community visits, clubs, craft events and mama spring sessions. Meals will also need to be provided in the form of cereal for breakfast, two pieces of fruit for snacks, a healthy, balanced hot meal for lunch in a hot food flask (we cannot reheat any food from home) and either a healthy, balanced hot or cold meal for tea (if attending). All cold meals must be packed in a named lunch box with at least two ice packs as we cannot accommodate fridge space.
